Jim Royczyk is a former chief of police for Chicago. He was police superintendent for 13 years and his career spanned 43 years total.

Season 2Edit

Meredith Kane calls upon Royczyk to control civil unrest during the relocation of residents from the Lennox Gardens Housing Project.[1]

Royczyk becomes the scapegoat for the shooting of a 17-year-old black male who was killed during the riots spurred on by the exodus from Lennox Gardens. A recording of his telephone conversation updating Tom Kane after his return from Canada was leaked and edited to make him sound unsympathetic to the shooting. He appears to be a long time friend of Tom Kane, who collegially asks for his resignation. Royczyk then leaks information to Sentinel reporter Sam Miller; Tom’s car was seen crossing the Canadian border as the riot's began.

Jim Royczyk is a recurring character in the second season. He is played by guest star Chelcie Ross and debuts in "Backflash".
