Ella Harris is a neurologist. She is treating Mayor Tom Kane for Lewy Body Dementia.

Biography[]

Season 1[]

Dr. Harris sees Mayor of Chicago Tom Kane in secrecy, meeting him at a disused abattoir. She diagnoses him with Lewy Body Dementia, a progressive degenerative disease that will slowly destroy his mind. He is pragmatic about the news, just wanting to know what he can do to control his symptoms.

Reporter Sam Miller is tipped off about Kane seeing Dr. Harris and attempts to question her. He gets nothing from her but their meeting is noticed by Kane's staff, who have been tailing Miller. Kane authorizes a gentle warning to be delivered to Dr. Harris through his Chief of Staff Ezra Stone. Stone's man uses a neuromuscular blocker to paralyze the doctor as she goes to pick up her son from a little league game and delivers a chilling reminder of her oath, terrifying her.[1]

Season 2[]

Kane meets with her to discuss his symptoms. She recommends anti psychotic drugs but he refuses because of their physical side effects. She tries to warn him that his judgement and personality are going to be compromised but he insists that he has the willpower to overcome the illness. She references being threatened and forced to relocate. He says that he had "trust issues" and assures her that the party responsible is no longer working for him. He offers to facilitate a move back to Chicago and to arrange for Max to be enrolled in a private school specializing in academically challenged children.[2]
